About Le Bouyssou

Le Bouyssou is a beautiful, spacious and recently renovated, modern style barn conversion set in the rural French countryside, near the village of La Salvetat-Peyrales in the Aveyron department.  It sleeps up to four people (or 2 adults and 3 children) is well equipped, and has the use of an eco-friendly swimming pool.

The Property

The accommodation comprises a large open plan living room/kitchen area with a well equipped kitchen including electric cooker and dishwasher. Double doors open from the main room to a small terrace with a small herb garden, cafe style table and chairs and magnificent views across the Viaur valley. It is possible to barbeque on the terrace or in the larger semi-open lower barn area adjacent to the swimming pool.

A bathroom with shower is situated off the main room and an open spiral staircase leads up to a mezzanine floor bedroom.  Here there is a double bed and a second double bed plus a convertible bed which would be suitable for young children.

There are two sofas downstairs, one of which is a sofa bed and a small dining table and chairs.  A washing machine, situated in the basement under the barn, is also available for use of guests.

How to get to Le Bouyssou

Directions

You can get to Aveyron by car, plane or train. The journey time by car from Calais is about 10 hours (excluding stops) so we often take two days to get there. The quickest route is usually via Rouen, Chartres, the A71 and the A20. Unless you enjoy a good traffic jam, ignore SatNavs that tell you it’s quicker on the Paris ring road.

From La Salvetat-Peyrales, follow signs for Bellecombe south on the D649, and the next two signs to Bellecombe (one to the left, one to the right). After nearly 5 kilometres, shortly after a sign left to La Montagne, you will see the small sign below to La Gachetie pointing to the left.

Le Bouyssou is the grey building with orange shutters to the left of the road before some large white barns.

The Area

The village of La Salvetat-Peyrales is 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) away.  La Salvetat has a good general grocery story, a boulangerie, a butcher’s shop (3 days a week) and an excellent value bar and restaurant (13 Euros for a four course lunch).  Further details of the local shops and amenities are provided at the property.

A number of attractive towns nearby are well worth visiting, including, Rodez, Albi and Villefranche de Rouergue (renowned for its Thursday morning market).  Rieuperoux has the nearest large supermarkets. The world famous Millau Viaduct is located some 90 minutes’ drive away.  The area is good for walking (details of suggested walks are provided) and there are also opportunities for other outdoor pursuits such as riding (the local stables are a five minute walk away), running and fishing.  The clear skies and lack of light pollution with excellent views of the Milky Way make for spectacular star-gazing.  The sunrises and sunsets can be memorable.
